We at Merck assume responsibility for our employees

For Merck, social responsibility also means assuming responsibility for employees, who are our most important resource and crucial to our success. Attractive development prospects, equal opportunities, and an agreeable working atmosphere, in which each individual can develop fully, all help to enhance employee satisfaction.
Merck has an excellent reputation for its responsibility toward its employers. We are proud that the company's commitment to its employees has been recognized in the form of numerous career awards which we have received in recent years. We also consider our low staff turnover as proof of our employees’ satisfaction.
An employee focus and employee engagement are key elements of our personnel policy pillars:
  • Merck focuses on the development of executives and performance management in employee development and performance management.
  • Merck offers vocational training beyond its own requirements, promotes women and people with disabilities, thereby underscoring its commitment to equal opportunity.
  • Merck offers a wide of voluntary social benefits beyond those stipulated by collective agreements.
In April 2007, the Executive Board enacted the Merck Social Charter. It reinforces our claim to treat all employees fairly and in compliance with local laws and regulations. Our Social Charter also applies to Merck suppliers and other business associates.
